“There are those who open their hearts to others…who never think twice about giving of themselves. They are the wonderful warmhearted people who make all the difference in our lives.” – Gilda Radner
These words epitomize the very nature of a Gilda’s Club volunteer. Volunteering is much more than just a job. It’s an opportunity to meet friends, learn new skills, and put existing ones to good use. It is a chance to be part of a team that makes a genuine difference in the lives of people who are living with cancer.
Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka volunteers are real-life superheroes who accomplish remarkable feats with real impact. They may not be faster than a speeding bullet (although some of them are pretty quick!), and they may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but their contributions are most definitely creating community change that is more powerful than a locomotive! Their task lists are endless: greeting in our clubhouse, helping with outreach in our community, putting on a special event, helping in our Program, tending our gardens, and the list goes on.
By giving us the gift of your time or resources, you can demonstrate your values, honour those in your life who have been affected by cancer, and know that you are helping people in your own community in a real and practical way.
